"The Reservoir" serves as a reminder of the kinds of beauty that can happen on the side while you’re busy chasing rainbows. I created this composition mostly to test colors and patterns for another painting I had planned. I often work on more than one piece at the time, with the smaller paintings being tests and studies for a larger painting. Usually the larger painting gets all the glory in the end, but in this case, the little one ended up being the most compelling piece.
